Rate of infection/detection
|
The rate of infection or detection table provides a quick summary of a threat's
relative rate of infection/detection in different regions across the globe. This
provides a useful estimate of how quickly a threat is affecting each region.
An infection/detection rate of 5 percent, for example, means that approximately
5 out of 100 computers are affected. Please note that these rates are based solely
on HouseCall users who have scanned their machines in the last 24 hours. (See the
Trend Micro Virus Map for additional information.)

Related threats
|
|
This list contains other threats that are related to a specific threat. This could
be other components that work in conjunction with the malware or grayware being
discussed - typically as part of a multi-component malware/grayware package. It
could also include variants of the specific threat being described.

Remote Access Programs
|
|
Also known as remote access tools or RATs, these programs allow users to access
and manipulate remote systems. Many remote access programs are legitimate tools
used by all types of users to access files and data on remote computers. The same
programs, however, can be used for malicious purposes. Malicious individuals can
trick unsuspecting users into installing remote access programs on their machines,
or they may install these programs themselves.

Reported infections/detections
|
Reported infections or detections, or real-world propagation, may be high, medium,
or low based on the number of reports from the World Virus Tracking Center and Trend
Micro business units around the world that are receiving threat reports and support
inquiries in their areas. Other factors, such as reports from other antivirus vendors
and media, may also contribute to the computation of reported infections or detections.
High - reports indicate that the threat has been seen all over the world, with numerous
infections/detections in different sites.
Medium - infections/detections limited to specific regions, with relatively few
worldwide infections/detections.
Low - none or very few infections/detections reported.

Risk rating
|
|
When a threat is reported, TrendLabs (Trend Micro's global network of antivirus
research and product support centres) immediately evaluates the risk of the threat
and assigns a risk rating of Low, Medium or High for malware and grayware, or Low,
Moderate, Important, Critical or Highly Critical for vulnerabilities. Several factors
contribute to each risk rating.
